Barcelona face major financial hurdle in pursuit of Tottenham star Pedro Porro

According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday October 15, 2026, Barcelona could face a significant financial obstacle in their reported pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, with the Premier League club said to be demanding around £75 million for the Spanish international.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have identified Porro as a potential defensive reinforcement for the summer of 2027. However, Tottenham’s reported valuation of approximately €90 million could make negotiations difficult for the Catalan giants.

The 27-year-old recently signed a new contract that reportedly runs until 2031, putting Tottenham in a strong position to demand a substantial transfer fee. The London club are understood to have little intention of allowing the right-back to leave cheaply.

Porro’s attacking qualities, crossing ability and experience in the Premier League could make him an attractive option for Barcelona, who are looking to strengthen their defensive options. His style of play could suit Hansi Flick’s tactical approach, particularly the demands placed on full-backs to contribute in attack.

However, paying close to €90 million for a right-back would represent a major investment, potentially limiting Barcelona’s ability to reinforce other areas of the squad.

Real Madrid have also reportedly shown interest in Porro, raising the possibility of competition between the Spanish rivals for his signature. Nevertheless, any potential move will depend on the clubs’ willingness to meet Tottenham’s financial demands.

Barcelona are also monitoring Sporting CP defender Iván Fresneda as a possible alternative. If Tottenham refuse to lower their asking price, the Catalan club could turn their attention towards a more affordable option.
