Martínez Breaks Silence, Apologises To Man United Hierarchy After Meeting Carrick And Directors
According to a report by The Punch on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez has officially apologized for his furious post-match rant targeting the club’s board, following a crucial meeting with manager Michael Carrick and top executives at Carrington.
Club insiders have confirmed that the matter is now water under the bridge, making the Argentine center-back fully available for selection ahead of Sunday’s explosive Premier League clash against Leeds United at Elland Road.
The controversy erupted just two days prior when a frustrated Martínez slammed United’s recruitment strategy on Amazon Prime following a 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid.
Directing his anger upstairs, he publicly demanded more investment and challenged the technical director while backing manager Michael Carrick.
Although he initially put out a statement admitting his comments stemmed from anger without saying sorry, the defender has now made a complete U-turn after sitting down with Carrick, CEO Omar Berrada, and technical director Jason Wilcox.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Martínez cleared the air: “Today I met with the club’s leadership and the manager. It was a very positive conversation, where we were able to exchange views and speak openly about what happened after the game.
Everyone knows that I am a passionate person and that I live football with great intensity. The frustration of the defeat led me to express how I felt at a time and place that perhaps were not the right ones, and for that I want to apologise.”
He acknowledged that his explosive outburst did nothing to foster unity at Old Trafford, stressing that everyone behind the scenes is working hard to bring glory back to the club.
