Politicians Think Ghanaians Are Fools, They Expect Them To Accept Decision Without Questioning It–JB

During a televised political discussion in Ghana, media personality Ekow JB criticised the handling of the country’s road toll policy, questioning the decisions made by successive political administrations.

Ekow JB made the remarks while examining the suspension of road toll collection and the financial implications for the government.

He recalled that the decision to abolish road tolls was announced in November 2021 under the former New Patriotic Party administration.

According to him, the country had previously been generating substantial revenue from toll collection before the policy was introduced.

He estimated that the government collected between GH¢70 million and GH¢78 million annually through the tolling system.

The media personality questioned why such a source of public revenue was abandoned without what he considered a satisfactory replacement.

He maintained that political disagreements between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress should not prevent the government from protecting national resources.

Ekow JB also expressed frustration over what he considered the failure of political leaders to explain the financial consequences of their decisions.

He argued that citizens deserved proper explanations when government policies affected public revenue, employment and national development.

Ekow JB said: “Sometimes It Appears That Politicians Think Ghanaians Are Fools, Because They Expect People To Accept Decisions Without Questioning Their Financial Consequences.”
