Attend agric show, address farmers directly, Tinubu urged
The National Agricultural Farmers Network (NAFN) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to personally attend the 2026 Annual National Agricultural Show in November and use the occasion to speak directly to farmers and other stakeholders on the policies, programmes and interventions of his administration in the agricultural sector.
The National Coordinator (NAFN), Hajiya Aishatu Rufa’i Ibrahim, said the show has adopted the theme: “Repositioning Agriculture for National Prosperity: Linking Smallholder Farmers, Government and the Private Sector to Technology, Finance, Markets and Value Addition.”
She said the President’s personal participation would send a powerful message of recognition and commitment to millions of Nigerian farmers whose contributions remain central to the nation’s food security, employment generation, industrial development and economic prosperity.
“We are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seize this historic opportunity and personally attend the 2026 National Agricultural Show. This is not simply an exhibition; it is the largest gathering of Nigerian farmers and agricultural stakeholders on a common platform. It provides the President with a unique opportunity to speak directly to the men and women who produce the food that sustains our nation and to hear from them firsthand,” NAFN said.
The organisation noted that agriculture has remained a critical component of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and that the sector requires sustained engagement between government, farmers, the private sector, financial institutions, research institutions and development partners.
NAFN said the President’s address at the Show would also provide an opportunity to explain the government’s policies on food production, agricultural financing, access to inputs, mechanization, irrigation, commodity value chains, storage, processing, market access and the integration of technology into modern farming.
The 2026 National Agricultural Show is expected to bring together farmers, government institutions, agricultural research organizations, commodity associations, private investors, development partners, financial institutions and other actors across the agricultural value chain.
The Show will feature the display of new agricultural innovations and technologies by the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), alongside exhibitions of farm produce from smallholder and large-scale farmers.
There will also be extensive displays of agricultural value chains by various commodity groups, as well as participation by the Federal and State Ministries of Agriculture, agricultural agencies, agro-allied companies, international development partners and financial institutions.
The 2026 edition of the National Agricultural Show, organized in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), is scheduled to hold from 16th to 20th November 2026.
