Russia says its forces have deployed two FAB-3000 heavy glide bombs against positions belonging to Ukraine’s 65th Separate Mechanised Brigade near Orekhov in the Zaporozhye region. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, reconnaissance units identified concentrations of Ukrainian troops before aircraft released two FAB-3000 bombs fitted with universal glide-and-correction modules. Moscow claims the designated targets were hit. Ukraine has not independently confirmed the Russian account. The FAB-3000 weighs roughly three tonnes and originated as a Soviet-designed conventional gravity bomb. Russia has adapted weapons from the FAB family with wing and guidance kits, allowing aircraft to release them farther from targets rather than flying directly overhead. Moscow has increasingly used heavy glide bombs against fortified Ukrainian positions while attempting to reduce aircraft exposure to ground-based air defences.
