Several officers seen in York County after neighbors say they heard gunshots: What we know
CLOVER, S.C. (WBTV) – A road was closed in York County on Wednesday afternoon after heavy police presence was seen. Neighbors in the area reported hearing gunshots following a possible vehicle crash.
Officials have not confirmed to WBTV what happened but neighbors — who did not want to be identified — said on Wednesday, Oct. 14, around noon a car crashed on Lloyd White Road in Clover.

The neighbor says he was just feet away and was fearful for his own safety as shots were fired.
“When they started shooting, my mind was like, hide. Get behind something because I didn’t know, like I said, I didn’t know if that man had a gun,” the man said.
WBTV’s Drone 3 showed what appears to be a Corvette crashed on Lloyd White Road. Neighbors said they heard a car speeding down the road before it crashed.
The man said he drove toward the scene and watched as deputies drew their weapons.
“I took my little 4×4 and I parked right at my sister’s driveway right where the car was wrecked,” the man said. “All the police and cops got out, the sheriffs, and the next thing I know they drew their weapons.”
The man said officers were yelling at a man inside the car to get out then he says the gunfire started. The man was just feet away, behind officers.
“I jumped back behind my little four 4×4 to hide because I didn’t know where the shots were gonna be going because I was watching them shoot and then all of a sudden they went down there to get him out of the car and then I backed up to come back down here,” the man said.
“It’s just dangerous. I mean I hope the man lives, I don’t know. The cops, the ones that had to pull the trigger, you know they’re gonna be in for it for a little while too,” the man said.
Neighbors told WBTV they saw multiple ambulances leaving the area. WBTV is working to confirm with law enforcement what happened or what led up to the gunfire.
