Melania’s ‘Vanishing Act’ Reportedly Causing ‘Direct Conflict’ With Trump Amid Claims They’re ‘Completely Estranged’ & ‘Not in a Healthy Place’

In a July 2026 episode of the Inside Trump’s Head podcast, hosts Michael Wolff and Joanna Coles discussed Melania’s “vanishing act” in 2026. “We really have seen almost nothing of the First Lady this year,” Coles said, adding that Melania had only made “14 to 16” public appearances at the time. She went on to list Melania’s 2026 appearances, which included the UFC Freedom 250 event on June 14 and the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final on July 19. Coles then wondered what keeps Melania from attending official engagements: “What is she doing the rest of the time?” she asked. “I do have questions about her because it’s very odd that she’s missing.”

“What’s so interesting about Melania is she doesn’t appear to enjoy anything to do with being first lady,” Coles added. “She looks like she’s forced to turn out, and she looks utterly miserable when she’s there.”

Wolff claimed it has to do with Melania and Trump’s relationship, which he called “the strangest marriage in the history of all presidential marriages.”

“All marriages have their issues. All marriages have their problems. All marriages are dissimilar in the various ways. They are dissimilar,” he explained. But this isn’t a marriage. I mean, there’s no [way]—they just don’t live together.”

Coles and Wolff’s comments follow political commentator David Pakman’s assertion that Trump and Melania are “completely estranged.”

He went on to say that Melania and Trump might even see each other as competition, which isn’t good for their marriage. “Even more disturbing to the White House is that this business of hers seems to make her the center of attention, which puts her kind of in direct conflict with the President of the United States, who, as we know, can’t stand anyone else being the center of attention. [He] doesn’t mind you making money, but do not steal the limelight.”

In a September 27 video, Pakman criticized recent remarks Melania’s made on Fox & Friends about her husband’s busy schedule: “How would Melania know that Trump is working from morning until evening?”

Pakman noted that Melania might have “detailed knowledge of his schedule” and even look at his calendar every so often, but she’s “basically estranged” from Trump. He then pointed to Melania’s independence from Trump before claiming it’s played a major role in their alleged estrangement.

“It seems as though they are mostly living separately,” he continued. “They have separate bedrooms, when they’re even in the same building.”

Additional sources agree, especially relationship expert Gemma Logan, who previously told The Irish Star that Trump and Melania’s lack of interaction indicates their marriage is “not in a healthy place.”

“A marriage where two people are reportedly barely speaking is clearly not in a healthy place. Communication is the heartbeat of any long term relationship,” Logan stated. “When conversation becomes minimal, couples can start living parallel lives rather than a shared one. At that point, the question isn’t simply whether they spend time together, but whether they still feel emotionally connected when they do.”
