He’s demanding to know why government appears quicker to respond to some national issues while ordinary citizens continue to live in fear of crime.

The 51-year-old actor is best known for playing Dumisani Thusong in Isidingo, Modise Tladi in The Wild, and presenting the lifestyle show Top Billing.

He also made history by portraying former president Nelson Mandela in the film Mandela’s Gun.

Now Tumisho is using his voice to raise questions about safety, accountability and the treatment of South Africans.

In a video, he questioned reports that hundreds of millions of rands had been allocated for security ahead of the planned 30 June 2026 protests. He argued that communities battling violent crime, illegal mining, drug trafficking and gender-based violence (GBV) deserved the same urgency.

Dear President Ramaphosa, why does urgency seem to depend on who needs protecting?

He said families were living in fear while women and kids continued to face violence, trafficking and exploitation.

“Yes, government has deployed resources against crime, but where are the measurable results?” he said.

The actor also questioned whether government was applying consistent standards of accountability to officials facing allegations of misconduct.

He raised concerns about delays affecting people waiting for identity documents and birth certificates.

Tumisho said the issue wasn’t about turning against foreign nationals.

He made it clear that genuine refugees deserved their rights, while insisting that citizens’ safety and dignity must also be protected.

“We reject xenophobia, we reject violence, but we also reject corruption, government inaction and the failure to enforce our laws,” he said.

The actor stressed that South Africans were not asking for special treatment but wanted leadership that put their well-being first.

We are demanding equal urgency, consistent accountability and leadership that puts the safety and well-being of South Africans at the centre of its responsibilities.

He ended with a pointed question for the president: “Mr President, when will South Africans feel that same urgency from you?”

His message adds to growing public debate about crime, immigration enforcement, and whether government is doing enough to protect communities.
