El Clasico: Barcelona vs Real Madrid Declared a High-risk Fixture by Authorities

According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Authorities in Spain have officially classified the upcoming El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid as a high-risk fixture ahead of their meeting on October 25.

The decision is expected to result in increased security measures at Spotify Camp Nou amid growing tensions between the two clubs.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Spain’s Permanent Committee of the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport confirmed the classification. The announcement comes as relations between Barcelona and Real Madrid remain strained.

One major source of tension is Real Madrid’s continued involvement in the Negreira case. Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has also recently criticised Barcelona over the controversy, further intensifying the rivalry between the Spanish giants.

Disagreements over refereeing decisions have added to the growing hostility. Real Madrid expressed frustration following their recent Madrid derby defeat to Atletico Madrid, particularly over a challenge by Kang-in Lee on Federico Valverde that did not result in a red card.

The match had already seen Dean Huijsen sent off for bringing down Giuliano Simeone inside the penalty area shortly after half-time. Madrid subsequently suffered another controversial moment against Villarreal last Saturday.

Vinicius Junior was dismissed for grabbing an opponent’s hair during that encounter. His suspension is expected to rule him out of the upcoming clash against Barcelona, dealing Real Madrid a significant setback ahead of the highly anticipated fixture.

With tensions continuing to rise, authorities are preparing a reinforced police operation at Spotify Camp Nou. Security personnel are expected to be deployed before kick-off, throughout the match and after the final whistle to help maintain order.

Barcelona enter the contest in strong form under Hansi Flick. The Catalan side have won all eight of their opening La Liga matches and currently lead the standings.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, occupy fourth place and trail Barcelona by six points. With both clubs facing mounting pressure and the rivalry intensifying, the upcoming El Clasico is expected to attract considerable attention both on and off the pitch.
