Arsenal UEFA Champions League Fixture Officially Moved Due to Strikes
According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Arsenal Champions League clash against Barcelona has officially been rescheduled because of planned strike action in Spain, with the European fixture now set to take place on November 12.
The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, but will now be played on Thursday, November 12, at Camp Nou. The kick-off time remains unchanged at 6:45pm local time.
Arsenal confirmed the rearrangement after concerns emerged about the practical arrangements required to stage the game during the planned nationwide industrial action.
Reports from Spain indicate Barcelona requested the change because of potential disruption affecting transport, stadium access and other matchday operations. UEFA subsequently approved the revised date following discussions involving the clubs.
The strike has been organised amid concerns about housing access, wages and the rising cost of living. Trade unions, including CCOO and UGT, are among those supporting the action.
The original scheduling also presented challenges surrounding pre-match preparations, including training sessions and press conferences. Organisers reportedly determined that the necessary conditions for staging the match could not be guaranteed on November 11.
Barcelona initially explored the possibility of moving the fixture forward to Tuesday, November 10. However, that option was unsuitable for Arsenal because they are scheduled to face Liverpool away in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, November 8.
Moving the European encounter forward would therefore have required additional changes to Arsenal’s domestic schedule, making the alternative arrangement difficult to accommodate.
The clubs and UEFA eventually agreed on November 12 as the most suitable solution. The adjustment allows the Champions League contest to proceed while reducing the potential impact of the planned disruption.
Supporters who purchased tickets for the original date will still be able to use them for the rearranged fixture. Fans unable to attend on November 12 can request a full refund.
Arsenal will now travel to Barcelona a day later than initially planned as both teams continue preparations for the league-phase encounter.
The rescheduling means the clubs can focus on their European ambitions without the additional complications associated with the strike, although the change requires supporters to adjust their original plans.
