UCL: Osimhen under fire after Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray

According to a report Daily Post on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has come under criticism from Turkish football pundit Serdar Ali Çelikler following Galatasaray’s 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Çelikler questioned the Nigerian forward’s performance, arguing that he failed to make the expected impact in front of goal and struggled to perform his duties as a centre-forward.

“Osimhen couldn’t do either goalscoring or center-forward play today. That is why I liked Leao,” the pundit said, as quoted by NEO Spor.

He further explained that Galatasaray needed Osimhen to hold up the ball and bring his teammates into play, but felt the striker failed to deliver in that aspect against the Spanish side.

“He came and took balls with his back to the goal. Osimhen couldn’t do these today, and Galatasaray needed this in this match,” Çelikler added.

Barcelona secured the victory through goals from João Cancelo, Fermín López, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, leaving Galatasaray disappointed after their home defeat.

Osimhen will now have an opportunity to respond to the criticism when Galatasaray face Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday, with the Nigerian striker hoping to help his team return to winning ways.
