Barcelona extend winning streak to 10 games but Flick faces worrying Champions League problem

According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Barcelona continued their impressive run of form with a 4-1 victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League, recording their 10th consecutive win of the season. However, despite their attacking brilliance, Hansi Flick has a worrying defensive problem to address.

The Catalan giants showed their character by recovering after falling behind in Istanbul, eventually securing a convincing victory. Nevertheless, conceding another goal extended their unwanted run of 17 consecutive Champions League matches without keeping a clean sheet.

Barcelona’s last clean sheet in the competition came in April 2025, when they defeated Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final tie. Since then, they have conceded in every Champions League match they have played.

Against Galatasaray, Barcelona were caught out by a quick counter-attack that led to the Turkish side’s opening goal. Aleksey Batrakov’s effort took a deflection off Joao Cancelo, leaving goalkeeper Joan Garcia unable to prevent the ball from entering the net.

Although the deflection played a part, the goal highlighted Barcelona’s continued difficulties in preventing opponents from creating dangerous opportunities. The problem has also carried into the current campaign, with Flick’s side conceding in both of their opening Champions League fixtures.

Barcelona’s attacking quality has helped them overcome these defensive shortcomings, but relying on scoring more goals than their opponents could prove costly against stronger teams in the later stages of the competition.

Flick will therefore be keen to improve his team’s defensive organisation as Barcelona look to maintain their winning momentum and challenge for the Champions League trophy. Their 10-match winning streak demonstrates their strength, but ending their European clean-sheet drought could be crucial to their ambitions.
