Man Utd make decision on Lisandro Martinez punishment as player he asked Sir Jim Ratcliffe to sign revealed
Martinez criticised Man Utd's hierarchy, specifically technical director Jason Wilcox, after his side's 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Manchester United have deemed it 'inevitable' that Lisandro Martinez will receive a fine for his interview after Tuesday's 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid, it has been reported.
Speaking to Amazon Prime, Martinez publicly criticised United technical director Jason Wilcox and said that the club had not sufficiently backed manager Michael Carrick in the summer transfer window.
He is said to be not the only player unhappy with United's lack of ambition in the market – and now more detail has emerged surrounding the reasons behind the interview and what happens next.

According to The Athletic, United club sources believe it is 'inevitable' that Martinez will be fined for his post-match comments about senior club figures.
His chances of staying at United beyond the end of the season are said to be 'remote in the extreme', though the centre-back's contract expires in the summer and the club had not opened talks over a new deal prior to his interview in any case.
Sky Sports report that Martinez's future is 'in doubt', that United are looking for new centre-backs and left-backs, and that there is 'anger and bemusement' at what the Argentinian said amongst the club's boardroom.
It is claimed that one unnamed player was 'challenging' Martinez over his comments as they returned home.
Another significant detail involves Martinez's attempts to bring a new player to Old Trafford at the beginning of last season – and it may well have fuelled the dissatisfication that prompted his interview.
It is claimed that he wanted his compatriot Emiliano Martinez to join United, and that he 'made representations' to minority co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe himself over the possibility of signing the goalkeeper from Aston Villa. United would, of course, opt to sign Senne Lammens as their new number one goalkeeper.
How United view Martinez's interview alongside his recent performances remains open to debate. The Argentinian scored a calamitous own goal in a 1-1 draw against Fulham before the international break, and his defending was placed under much scrutiny when he failed to prevent Dominic Solanke from scoring a last-minute equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 home draw against Spurs.
But since being an unused substitute for United's Premier League opener against Hull, he has played every minute for Michael Carrick's side in the Premier League and Champions League.

Speaking to Amazon Prime's Gabriel Clarke, Martinez said: "Really poor [the performance]. Really poor. I have to control myself a lot. But sometimes it is a reflection in the mirror of how our club is at the moment.
"We did a fantastic season last season, and now we expect more from the top, to bring more players to compete. Because many teams bring many players as well. And today also Atletico, they have an amazing team and they deserved to win."
When asked if he expected more investment over the summer, Martinez replied: "I expect more … yeah, 100 per cent. I expect more from our technical director. I have to be honest, you know. As players, we have to do more. But it's as important when you make a strong squad to be ready for these nights.
"In general, in general," he said, when asked which specific positions needed to be improved. "I think, last season, we did everything – we created a base to build an amazing team. It's annoying, it's disappointing, to come here and I'm not seeing my team trying to get an amazing result here. It's disappointing."
"I don't think so [if Carrick was backed enough with investment]. He does his best. But every season is different – you can't do the same as what you did last season. The teams know how you play, they know every detail, and if you don't change, next season is a big problem.
"If you start changing, changing, changing managers… what about other areas? I can't say more. Also tonight, it's easy to say the coach, it's easy to say the players. But we have to see others, huh?"
