I cancel all my business deals in kumasi because of Lilwin threats, that is why i sued him – Vicker
According to report by Thebbcghana on Wednesday 14, October 2026, Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Van Vicker has reportedly taken fellow actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, to court over alleged defamatory statements, seeking GH¢10 million in damages.
The legal action, according to details contained in court documents, follows comments allegedly made by Lilwin concerning Van Vicker’s participation in the movie ‘A Journey to Africa’. The dispute is said to have intensified ahead of the filming of the movie at Nzulezu in the Western Region.
Van Vicker reportedly claims that the statements made by Lilwin have caused him considerable distress and affected his sense of personal safety. He is said to have told the court that he has been living in fear following the alleged remarks and has even cancelled planned business trips to Kumasi because of concerns arising from the dispute.
According to the claims outlined in the lawsuit, Lilwin allegedly stated that Van Vicker had failed to participate in the production and also threatened to prevent him from featuring in Kumawood movies.
Van Vicker argues that the alleged statements have damaged his reputation and could negatively affect his professional activities within Ghana’s film industry.
As part of the reliefs being sought, the actor is asking the court to award him GH¢10 million in exemplary damages. He is also seeking additional compensation for alleged libel, as well as reimbursement of legal expenses incurred in pursuing the case.
In addition to financial compensation, Van Vicker is reportedly asking the court to order Lilwin to retract the alleged defamatory statements and publish an apology on news portals for four consecutive weeks.
He is further seeking an injunction restraining Lilwin from making similar statements against him in the future.
The lawsuit has now moved the disagreement between the two prominent Ghanaian entertainers from public discourse into the courtroom, where the claims and counterclaims will be subjected to legal scrutiny.
The allegations contained in the lawsuit have not yet been proven in court, and Lilwin’s response to the claims will be relevant to the determination of the matter.
The case is expected to attract public attention given the profiles of the two actors and their longstanding presence in Ghana’s entertainment industry. It could also reignite discussions about the responsibility of public figures when making statements concerning colleagues, particularly where such remarks are alleged to have harmed an individual’s reputation, career or personal wellbeing.
Ultimately, the court will determine whether the statements complained of were defamatory and whether Van Vicker is entitled to the damages and other reliefs he is seeking.
