According to a video posted by PBS News on October 13, 2026, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Naqdi has warned that a US nuclear strike against Iran would lead to American military bases around the world being seized, describing such a move as a serious miscalculation by Washington.

Naqdi made the remarks while responding to a question from PBS special correspondent Reza Sayah about whether the United States could use a nuclear weapon against Iran, despite Tehran not currently possessing one of its own.

In response, Naqdi warned that such an action would have far-reaching global consequences, arguing that the international response would be significantly different from what followed nuclear attacks during World War II.

He said public attitudes towards nuclear weapons had changed considerably, claiming that people around the world had become more aware of their dangers and would not accept a repeat of such an attack.

Naqdi also suggested that other countries would interpret a nuclear strike against Iran as a threat to their own security, potentially prompting a broader response against American military interests.

In his words, Naqdi said, “Naturally it can end up being a mistake for them. The morning after they use a bomb, all of America’s military bases around the world would be occupied.

“Today things are different than World War II. The people of the world have awakened,” he said.
