What Made Adom Kyei-Duah Give Charles Awurum A Special Handshake At Church
Nigerian actor Charles Awurum has received a warm welcome from Ghanaian preacher Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah during a church visit arranged by Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win.
A moment from the encounter has drawn attention after the pastor explained why he was offering Awurum a handshake, recalling previous meetings between them in Kumasi and Accra before their latest encounter at the church.
“You came to me in Kumasi, visited my old house and dined with me. You also came to see me in Accra, and now we are finally in the house of God. That is why I am giving you this handshake,” Adom Kyei-Duah said.
The remark suggested that the handshake was more than a routine greeting, with the preacher connecting it to the actor’s previous visits and their meeting in a religious setting.
The encounter comes as several Nigerian movie stars are in Ghana for A Journey to Africa, an international film project produced by Lil Win’s Wezzy Empire. The movie centres on Nzulezu, the historic stilt village in Ghana’s Western Region, and forms part of the actor’s efforts to bring Ghanaian and Nigerian performers together on a production.
According to a report by YEN.com.gh published on October 1, 2026, Awurum was among a group of Nollywood actors who accompanied Lil Win to visit Adom Kyei-Duah. Other stars in the delegation included Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Mike Ezuruonye and Zubby Michael. The group had arrived in Accra on September 30 for the film project.
Adom Kyei-Duah is the founder and General Overseer of Believers Worship Centre, a church based in Kumasi. Lil Win has maintained a public connection with the preacher and his Philadelphia Movement, and the actor has previously spoken about the pastor’s support following his serious car accident in May 2024. <Cite refs={[“turn299900search1”,“turn299900search5”]}/>
The latest visit brings together personalities from Ghana’s Kumawood industry, Nigeria’s Nollywood scene and the Ghanaian church community.
While the handshake and the pastor’s remarks form the central moment of the encounter, the wider visit also reflects the relationships developing around Lil Win’s latest film project. With established actors from both countries involved, A Journey to Africa is bringing together entertainers whose work reaches audiences across West Africa.
