The management later opened the door using a spare key, allowing the police to access the house.

Inside the sitting room, officers found the two bodies lying next to each other on a mattress. Both had suspected gunshot wounds to the head.

A BUL 9mm pistol, a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition and two spent cartridges were recovered from the scene.

Detectives also collected a handwritten note suspected to have been left by the woman before the incident.Crime Scene Investigation officers from the Nairobi Region examined the apartment and gathered evidence before the bodies were transferred to Chiromo Funeral Parlour.

Postmortem examinations are expected to establish the exact causes of death.

Detectives have since launched investigations to determine the motive behind the incident and establish ownership of the recovered firearm.

They are also checking whether the weapon was legally registered and who held the relevant licence.
