The new Wales Bonner x Adidas drop is full of cult bangers

Grace Wales Bonner and Adidas have been working together since 2020. Their Sambas have become some of the most hyped sneakers on the planet. But for the latest drop, there isn't a single Samba in sight. Instead, four other silhouettes have been Wales Bonner-fied.

The Gazelle comes in ‘Green Night’ faux croc leather, with white Three Stripes, a gum sole, and bright blue lining. The Karintha (a Wales Bonner original, FYI) goes ‘Dark Brown’, with black stripes and shiny gold eyelets. The Adizero Adios running shoe opts for a creamy suede upper and hand-worked Three Stripes across the sidewalls. These are all great: 10/10, no notes from us.

But while Bonner has worked on these models before, she's never taken on the BW Army. For anyone who doesn't know, this is basically Adidas' take on the German Army Trainer, or GAT: a low-profile indoor training shoe developed for the West German military in the ’70s. The OG combined leather and suede with a gum sole. This special version comes in ‘Black’ and ‘Khaki’ colour combos, mixing croc-effect leather with pony hair. A GAT with a bit more going on, then.

And we don't mean to brag or anything, but we did call this. The German Army Trainer made our list of autumn/winter 2026 trends to know, just as brands are finding more ways to mess with it. Maison Margiela turned its Replica into a mule, then a ballet flat. Reproduction of Found added Velcro straps. Woodchuck Sato even turned it into a tabi. The classic shape is still there – brands are just having a bit more fun with it.

The new Wales Bonner x Adidas collection is set to drop later this year at Wales Bonner, Adidas, the Confirmed app, and select stockists globally.
