Osimhen Names World’s Best Team as Arsenal and Man City Miss Out

According to a report by Metro on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has named Barcelona the best team in the world, placing the Spanish giants ahead of Premier League title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Galatasaray forward made the declaration ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Barcelona at Rams Park, acknowledging the quality of Hansi Flick’s squad despite the challenge facing the Turkish champions.

Barcelona have enjoyed an impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign, winning all eight of their La Liga matches and scoring 34 goals. Their performances have helped them establish a five-point lead at the top of the Spanish league table.

The Catalan club have also started their Champions League campaign strongly, recording a convincing 5-1 victory over Feyenoord in their opening fixture.

Osimhen recognised Barcelona’s achievements and their place among the most successful clubs in football history while explaining why he considers them the strongest team at present.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Sport, the Nigerian international said: I know that Barcelona is one of the best teams in history… and the best in the world right now.

The striker also acknowledged the difficulty of facing a team with such outstanding individual quality, stressing that Galatasaray would need to approach the encounter with the right mentality and tactical discipline.

He said: If you play against a team with players of such quality, you must play both with emotion and seriousness, and press in the attacking zones.

Despite recognising Barcelona’s strength, Osimhen expressed confidence in Galatasaray’s ability to compete against the Spanish side.

He added: The match against Barcelona will be difficult. But, to be honest, just like my teammates, I am also very excited about this encounter.

Osimhen further insisted that his team would approach the contest with determination, regardless of the final outcome.

He said: We are ready; whatever the result of the match, we will face it with our heads held high. Playing against Barcelona at Rams Park will be spectacular.

Barcelona strengthened their squad during the summer transfer window with the reported arrivals of midfielder Rodri and England winger Anthony Gordon, adding further quality to an already talented group of players.

Osimhen’s assessment comes amid praise for Arsenal, who have also enjoyed a strong period under Mikel Arteta after winning the Premier League last season and reaching the Champions League final.

Former Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne previously described Arsenal as the best team in the world following Napoli’s defeat to the London club earlier in the campaign.

However, Osimhen believes Barcelona currently occupy that position as Galatasaray prepare for a difficult European test against the Spanish leaders.
