I-TEAM: 92-year-old beaten to death had protective order in place against son
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Court records obtained by the WAFB I-TEAM show the 92-year-old who was beaten to death in the 12000 block of Archery Drive had a protective order filed against his son, Bruce Salisbury.
That protective order was not set to expire until July 31, 2027.
Sources said a man identified as the victimâs son was detained after a police chase through Baton Rouge, which led to his car flipping near Greenwell Street. However, that manâs name has not been released by police.
The victim, Larry Salisbury, was found dead Monday evening with injuries from blunt force trauma, investigators said.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, no one had been arrested in the killing and police had not identified any possible suspects by name.
On July 24, 2026, Bruce was accused of committing a battery against his father, Larry. Documents show he was charged with felony domestic abuse battery. Investigators noted the father, Larry, had two black eyes and dried blood on both ears.
Detectives noted the 92-year-old lived with his son Bruce at the Archery Drive home.
Bruce Salisbury was due in court on November 10, 2026, for a probation review.
The 92-year-old victim reported to investigators that his son struck him, causing the injuries.
Less than one month ago, on September 17, 2026, court records show Bruce Salisbury entered a guilty plea to one count of domestic abuse battery. He was sentenced to six months in prison with credit for time served. The court suspended the remaining balance of his time in prison and ordered him on unsupervised probation for one year.
He previously pleaded guilty to violating a protective order involving a female.
