Indianapolis repeat offender ordered to pay restitution to 15 CSAM victims, 20 years in federal prison

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A federal judge has ordered a 30-year-old Indianapolis man to spend 20 years in prison and pay 15 of his victims nearly $50,000 in restitution.

Andrew S. Whitaker, Jr. pleaded guilty to distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material.

Court documents say he sent several images and videos containing child sexual abuse material to multiple people using the app Kik in 2024. Police executed a warrant at his home and located a phone with 2,279 images and 1,109 video files of child sexual abuse material, also learning he had a second Kik account used for the same reason.

When he was arrested, Whitaker was on federal supervised release for a 2021 conviction of possession of and access with intent to view child sexual abuse material in the Southern District of Indiana.

ā€œThis dangerous offender exploited a social media platform to circulate the horrific abuse of the most vulnerable among us, all while already on federal supervised release for the same reprehensible conduct,ā€ said Tom Wheeler, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. ā€œThose who gather online to revel in the exploitation of children should know that we will identify you, we will find you, and we will hold you accountable.ā€
