Today’s Headlines: Why President Deserves Second Term; Ayodele On Tinubu’s 2027 Loss

Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, SAN, has outlined economic reforms and development opportunities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as reasons the president should be given second term ticket.

Udeh, also a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, said Tinubu’s administration had put Nigeria on the path to economic recovery, adding that the reforms introduced since 2023 required more time to deliver their full benefits.

The minister said this during an interview on Arise News Prime Time, while responding to questions on the 2027 presidential election and the argument for retaining the presidency in the South.

Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has warned that if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election, Nigeria will face widespread crises and chaos that could take a long time to resolve. In a statement through his media aide, Ayodele explained that Tinubu and his supporters already believe victory is assured, so a loss would trigger an unimaginable reaction from him.

He predicted the aftermath would be bloody, with many politicians fading into oblivion. Ayodele said there would likely be multiple attempts to stop the announcement of results, along with serious ethnic tensions across the country, and that Tinubu might struggle or delay handing over power to the winner.

The Kano State House of Assembly has called for a review of the state’s rent control law amid concerns over sharp increases in house and shop rents, which lawmakers say are putting additional financial pressure on residents and small business owners.

The Speaker, Ismail Falgore, made the call on Tuesday during plenary following a motion moved by the member representing Takai Constituency, Musa Kachako, who raised concerns about the rising cost of renting residential and commercial properties across the state.

Kachako expressed concern over the practice of landlords increasing rents without giving tenants adequate notice.

He said the situation was making it increasingly difficult for many residents and business owners to plan their finances.
