Chelsea Receive Suprise Moises Caicedo Transfer Message

According to a report by Football Transfer on Tuesday October 13, 2026, Manchester United legend Antonio Valencia has urged his former club to consider signing Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo in 2027, delivering an unexpected transfer message that could interest supporters at Old Trafford.

Caicedo was previously linked with Manchester United while playing for Independiente del Valle. The Red Devils were reportedly favourites to sign him before complications ended their pursuit, allowing Brighton to secure his signature.

The Ecuadorian international developed into one of football’s most promising midfielders at Brighton before completing a lucrative move to Chelsea worth approximately €116 million.

Caicedo has since become an important member of Chelsea’s squad, making his first start of the 2026-27 campaign during their emphatic 5-1 victory over Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old is contracted to Chelsea until 2033 and was reportedly considered untouchable during the summer, alongside Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Joao Pedro and Josh Acheampong.

However, Valencia believes Manchester United still require significant reinforcements to improve their performances and compete more effectively against their rivals.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper AS ahead of United’s Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid, Valencia explained that additional signings would strengthen the squad.

“This year the team has struggled a bit. I think they still need two or three more signings for United to be able to do better,” the former winger said.

When asked which positions needed attention, Valencia identified midfield, defence and the full-back areas as priorities for recruitment.

“I’d sign another midfielder. I’d bring in a player like Moises Caicedo, keeping it local,” Valencia joked, before recommending another centre-back and a right or left full-back.

Despite Valencia’s suggestion, a deal for Caicedo appears highly unlikely. Chelsea have little reason to sell one of their most valuable players, particularly to a direct Premier League rival.

With more than six years remaining on his contract, the Ecuador captain is expected to remain at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United may therefore need to explore alternative midfield targets next year, especially after signing Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans during the summer.
