Aurangzeb outlines Pakistan’s economic reforms at investor meetings

At an institutional investor roundtable organised by Jefferies International, Aurangzeb highlighted improving fiscal and external balances, stronger reserves and rating upgrades. He said reforms were needed to turn stability into sustainable, export-led growth.

Discussions covered the IMF-supported programme, debt management and financing instruments, including Sukuk, a further Panda bond and tokenization. Aurangzeb also addressed tax-base broadening, agricultural income tax, digital enforcement and federal-provincial fiscal coordination.

At a Barclays Investor Roundtable, he discussed international market access through private placement, Panda bond and Eurobond issuance. He also outlined privatisation and airport outsourcing, noting a strong pipeline of initial public offerings (IPOs). He reported foreign investor interest in electricity distribution companies.

Separately, Aurangzeb met Imad Fakhoury, the International Finance Corporation’s Regional Vice President for the Middle East and Central Asia. They discussed private-sector growth, job creation, mining infrastructure, affordable housing and agricultural development. Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Reko Diq and welcomed the corporation’s role in financing the project.

In talks with Saudi Fund for Development Chief Executive Officer Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, discussions covered investment, refinery upgrades and a fresh project pipeline. Aurangzeb sought continued support from the fund within its mandate.

Speaking as First Vice-Chair of the G-24, Aurangzeb called for more representative international financial institutions and timely support for reforming countries. At a World Bank roundtable, he also stressed coordination across population, health, education and employment policies.
