The speaker said the session had been convened to hold a condolence reference for Mahmood Bashir Virk, describing him as an experienced politician whose parliamentary services were being acknowledged by the House.

Refusing to allow Barrister Gohar to speak on political matters, Ayaz Sadiq said efforts had been made to offer the PTI opportunities during negotiations, but the party had not been willing to accept anything in return.

The speaker then switched off Barrister Gohar’s microphone, saying political matters could also be discussed the following day.

Earlier, talking to ARY News, the PTI chief said his party was going to file a petition against the emergency and governor’s rule in the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

Barrister Gohar said their lawyers will file a petition in the PHC against the unconstitutional step. He emphasized that the party will continue its constitutional and legal struggle against the government’s unlawful action.

“We are supporters of democracy and an independent judiciary in the country,” he said, reiterating that imposing governor’s rule and emergency after removing a democratic government is entirely illegal.

It is pertinent to mention that the federal government imposed governor’s rule and an emergency in KP owing to the deteriorating security situation in the province and the stubbornness shown by the provincial PTI government over the long march.

The PTI has been ruling the province since 2013, and the removed administration was the party’s third consecutive government in KP.
