What will happen if Tinubu loses 2027 election – Primate Ayodele
Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has predicted a possible political crisis and ethnic tensions if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election.
The cleric in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, said the aftermath of such an outcome could trigger prolonged political instability, with consequences that might take a long time to resolve.
Ayodele claimed that Tinubu and his supporters were confident of victory, warning that an unexpected defeat could provoke a severe political reaction.
“If Tinubu loses this election, there will be so many crises, and it will take a long time to settle down; it will be an unimaginable manifestation because he believes he will win already. If he loses the election, it will be bloody because a lot of politicians will go into oblivion,” he said.
Ayodele further predicted that attempts could be made to halt the announcement of election results, while the outcome could trigger ethnic tensions and uncertainty over the transfer of power.
“There will be several attempts to stop the announcement of results. The election can cause an ethnic crisis; it will take time for him to decide if he will release power or not,” he said.
Speaking on the electoral prospects of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the cleric said the party’s victory in the 2027 election was not guaranteed, despite what he described as the confidence of its members and supporters.
He claimed that the possibility of defeat could come as a surprise to the party, adding that the outcome would be painful for many of its supporters.
“APC victory is shaking, but they don’t believe anyone can defeat them, and Tinubu doesn’t see beyond the presidency. A lot of people will cry if he loses the election. It will be unbelievable and painful to so many,” Ayodele said.
He added that a defeat for Tinubu could also lead to changes in Nigeria’s electoral process.
“If Tinubu loses the election, it can change the electoral process in Nigeria,” he said.
