According to federal court records, new court dates have been set for two men who are facing charges in connection with the deadly mass shooting on April 19 in Cedar Grove.
Charles Ford is accused of illegally being in possession of the gun Shamar Elkins used to commit the mass shooting and lying to an ATF agent about the gun. He appeared in court May 13 and pleaded not guilty to these charges.
During a hearing on June 15, Ford changed his plea to guilty.
Ford is now set to appear in court for sentencing on Oct. 13.
The other man accused in the case is Michael Mayence. His home is the one Elkins fled to after the mass shooting. Mayence was charged April 25 and indicted May 7 for illegally possessing a gun while under a court order for domestic violence. This comes after officials reportedly found multiple guns in his home while they were searching it following Elkinsâ death.
Mayence is scheduled for a status conference hearing Aug. 10. According to court documents, attorneys are working on some sort of plea deal for him. He is currently out on bond.
