Today’s Headlines: Why President Deserves Second Term; Davido’s sister, Sharon, explains why she no longer buys expensive outfits

Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, SAN, has outlined economic reforms and development opportunities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as reasons the president should be given second term ticket.

Udeh, also a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, said Tinubu’s administration had put Nigeria on the path to economic recovery, adding that the reforms introduced since 2023 required more time to deliver their full benefits.

The minister said this during an interview on Arise News Prime Time, while responding to questions on the 2027 presidential election and the argument for retaining the presidency in the South.

Sharon Ademefun (Nee Adeleke), the sister of popular Nigerian singer Davido, has revealed that she is no longer willing to spend excessively on certain items like clothes.

While speaking on the high cost of fashion, Sharon explained that although some things are worth the cost, the price of some dresses or outfits are hard to justify.

“I don’t really believe in buying expensive clothes, me personally. I believe that there are some things that are worth it. When I’m hearing that a wedding guest dress is $10,000, a wedding guest dress they’re all the same price now,” she said.

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai (retd.), has said the $1bn approved for defence procurement during his tenure as Army chief was released to the Ministry of Defence.

He said the funds approved by the National Economic Council did not pass through his hands or the accounts of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force.

Speaking at the Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria conference in Abuja on Monday, he described the allegations surrounding the funds as “political and malicious,” saying they first emerged during the 2019 election period when the opposition alleged that the money had been diverted for electoral purposes.

“The $1 billion was approved by the National Economic Council for defence procurement. Not a single dollar of that fund passed through my hands or through the accounts of the Nigerian Army, Navy, or Air Force.
