Baloch National Movement Holds Protest in Germany, Raises Allegations of Rights Abuses in Balochistan
The Baloch National Movement (BNM) held a protest rally in Hannover, Germany, on Monday, raising allegations of human rights violations by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and military operations.
The rally began in the city’s central Kröpcke area and proceeded through the streets to the Lower Saxony State Parliament. According to the BNM, protesters raised slogans outside the parliament and distributed leaflets highlighting what the organisation described as the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan.
The demonstrators called for independent investigations into alleged abuses, accountability for those responsible and international efforts to uphold what they described as the Baloch people’s right to self-determination.
The gathering was addressed by BNM activists Asif Baloch and Aqib Baloch, along with Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) representatives Saeed Momand and Fazal Meena Khel.
According to the BNM, the speakers highlighted allegations of enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, torture and civilian casualties, while stressing the need for greater cooperation between Baloch and Pashtun communities.
Citing reports by Paank, the BNM’s human rights department, the speakers expressed concern over the alleged extrajudicial killings of several civilians — Peer Jan, Shoaib Baloch, Hafiz Mudassir, Wazir Ahmed and Jasim — in Balochistan’s Panjgur district in August 2026.
They also demanded independent investigations into civilian deaths allegedly caused by military airstrikes and drone attacks across the province. The speakers urged the United Nations and international human rights organisations to examine the reported incidents and pursue accountability.
Reiterating its position, the BNM said the Baloch people should have the freedom to determine their political future and argued that the Balochistan issue must be addressed through human rights, justice and self-determination rather than force.
The rally followed a similar BNM protest in Seattle, the United States, earlier this month. According to the organisation, demonstrators there urged the US government to review its relationship with Pakistan and reconsider assistance in view of alleged human rights violations and military operations in Balochistan.
The BNM also called on the American public to raise concerns about whether assistance funded by US taxpayers could indirectly support the Pakistani military.
The allegations and demands were presented by the protest organisers.
