Why I Am Grateful To Almighty God For Creating Me The Way He Did” Pete Edochie

According to a video posted on Femi Babs TV on Monday October 12, 2026, veteran actor Pete Edochie said he is grateful to God for creating him as a source of joy to many people.

Mr Edochie spoke during an interview on The African Cinema with Zualakate. He was responding after the host read him a letter of honour.

The letter was addressed to Chief Pete Edochie. It said history remembers those whose work became part of the story of a people.

It said his artistry and resilience had touched generations. It said the programme would confer on him the title of legend of the African cinema.

The host also presented gifts. These included a coffee mug, flasks, wine, a face cap and a diffuser.

In his words, Pete Edochie said, “This is too much for me. Look, I don’t know what to say. I know that a lot of people appreciate me. I am grateful to the almighty God for creating me the way he did, as a source of joy to a lot of people. For me to witness in my lifetime such an outpouring of affection from different people, particularly people like you, I mean you are my adopted son, I am overwhelmed. I don’t know what to say,” he said.

The host replied that he knew Mr Edochie would respond warmly.

Mr Edochie joked that the host always comes up with something whenever he hears that he is in town. He then asked, in a light-hearted way, for a new wife as the next gift.

The room laughed. The host explained the aim of the programme. He said it honours legends while they are still alive.

He said the show has four award categories. These are legend, pillar, torch bearer and posthumous iconic awards. He said he started the platform after an earlier meeting with Mr Edochie.

He said Mr Edochie had told him on a film set that some things hurt him..
