Ogeta Says Raila Trusted Him Too Much to the Extent He Would Drive Him Around in His Personal Car

Maurice Ogeta, the longtime bodyguard of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has revealed the extraordinary level of trust his boss had in him, saying he could pick him up in his personal car and drive him to different places without necessarily having a specific destination.

Speaking during a candid interview wit Citizen TV, Ogeta recalled how Raila trusted him so much that they would sometimes drive around aimlessly, with neither of them knowing where to go next.

Ogeta said there were moments when he struggled to figure out where to take Raila or how to keep him away from the public eye, especially during uncertain moments.

He recalled Raila telling him that it was impossible to hide from the government, while urging him not to be distracted by rumours and propaganda.

“My boss used to say that you can’t hide away from the government. I remember there was a day he told me, ‘Maurice, stop listening to this propaganda and rumours,’” Ogeta recounted.

His revelations offer a glimpse into the close working relationship between Raila and his trusted bodyguard, who spent years by his side and witnessed some of the private moments away from the political limelight.
