ECG Announces Five-Day Maintenance Power Outages Across Parts of Accra West
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a public notice informing customers that parts of the Accra West Region will experience power interruptions due to scheduled maintenance work. The outages are expected to take place from October 12 to October 16, 2026, spanning a period of five days.
According to the company, the planned interruptions are necessary to allow its technical teams to carry out essential maintenance activities on the electricity distribution network. Such works are typically intended to improve the reliability of power supply, prevent unexpected breakdowns, and ensure that equipment serving the affected communities continues to function safely and efficiently.
The announcement indicates that the outages will not affect the entire Accra West Region at once. Instead, they will be limited to specific areas where the maintenance exercises are scheduled to take place. Residents, businesses, and other electricity users within those affected communities are therefore expected to experience temporary loss of power at various times during the five-day period.
The ECG has advised all customers in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements and plan their activities accordingly. This includes households that may need to adjust their daily routines, as well as businesses that depend heavily on electricity to operate, such as shops, restaurants, offices, and small-scale enterprises. Affected customers may also want to consider alternative sources of power, such as generators or stored energy solutions, where feasible.
The company further encouraged customers to treat the notice as important and to prepare adequately in order to reduce the inconvenience that the interruptions may cause. While the maintenance work may result in temporary discomfort, the ECG explained that the exercise is part of efforts to strengthen the power distribution system and deliver more dependable service to customers in the long term.
Customers with questions or concerns regarding the exercise are advised to contact the ECG through its official communication channels for further clarification and updates.
