The caravan was seen scraping bushes and trees as it was carried by lorry up the narrow, single-track Llewelyn Road in Tanyfron, Wrexham, on Friday.
North Wales Police said on Monday they were in the process of arranging for the caravan to be moved and will "consider any potential offences in due course".
A Wrexham councillor said the closure was putting pressure on other roads in the area, while a resident described it as a "total nightmare".
North Wales Police said the road was closed after the caravan was unable to be delivered to the recipient due to access to the property "being blocked".
It said: "The recipient of the caravan was advised to make arrangements to move the caravan as soon as possible, and has since informed us they are unable to do so.
"We are now in the process of arranging for the caravan to be moved ourselves and will consider any potential offences in due course."
Wrexham councillor Paul Rogers, who represents the Brymbo ward, said it meant a short diversion for local people, adding: "It's putting additional pressure on other roads in the village. The diversion route is past the local primary school.
"The decision to leave it there should be questioned. It could impact emergency service vehicles."
One resident said she believed the weight limit on a "small bridge down the road will have been exceeded".
"It's a complete and total nightmare. As residents, we not only have to look at it, but we've now got a local diversion, and there's no sign of it being moved.
"It's not normal for a vehicle to be left on a public highway."
