If Votes Will Count, As Wike Alleged Earlier, He Would Not Be On His Knees Begging Fubara – Gabriel
Political influence is often measured by party alliances and the ability to mobilise supporters, but elections ultimately test whether those arrangements can translate into votes.
Gabriel Pidomson, the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, has used the strained relationship between Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara to question how political power should be assessed.
Speaking on SYMFONI TV on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Pidomson challenged Wike’s earlier comments about the importance of votes.
“If votes will count, as Wike alleged earlier, he would not be on his knees begging Fubara,” he stated.
Wike, a former Rivers governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has remained influential in the state’s politics. However, his disagreements with Fubara have raised questions about alliances and the balance of power.
Pidomson’s remark is a political interpretation, not proof of Wike’s intentions or the reasons behind his interactions with the governor.
As the 2027 election approaches, Rivers State’s political contest will test the strength of alliances and the ability of candidates to win support directly from voters.
