Manchester United injury update on Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Benjamin Sesko

According to a report by Evening Standard on Monday October 12, 2026, Manchester United have been handed fresh injury concerns ahead of their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, with Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Benjamin Sesko among the players whose fitness is being monitored.

Shaw started United’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur but was substituted in stoppage time. The left-back was later spotted limping as he left Old Trafford and missed training ahead of the trip to Spain, raising doubts about his availability. Manager Michael Carrick is expected to provide an update on his condition.

Mainoo is also a concern after missing Monday’s training session despite completing the full 90 minutes against Tottenham. The midfielder had only recently returned to action after missing England’s international fixtures, and it remains unclear whether he will travel with the squad to face Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Sesko continues to struggle with a shin problem that has kept him out of recent matches. The Slovenian striker was left out of the squad for the trip to Fulham after experiencing pain, with Carrick confirming that the club were still assessing his condition.

United have not provided a confirmed return date for Shaw, Mainoo or Sesko, leaving their availability for the Atletico Madrid encounter uncertain.

The injury concerns come at a difficult time for Carrick, who is also dealing with the absence of Patrick Dorgu, expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines with a suspected hamstring injury.
