“Ghanaians Have Not Forgotten”—NDC’s TLC Fires Back At Nana B Over Bawumia 2028 Agenda

Aspiring Greater Accra Regional Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nii Tetteh Laryea Cyril, popularly known as TLC, has launched a strong rebuttal to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Second Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, widely known as Nana B.

Nana B had in recent days called on Ghanaians to give former Vice President and NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the chance to become President in the 2028 general elections, arguing that he has good plans for the country.

But in a counter statement titled “NANA B, GHANAIANS HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN!”, Cyril TLC says Ghanaians cannot be asked to simply move on without accountability for the previous administration’s record.

He questioned why Ghanaians should entrust the country to the same political leadership without first addressing the concerns and hardships they experienced under the Akufo-Addo administration, in which Dr. Bawumia served as Vice President.

According to the NDC communicator, the memories of economic difficulties, the sharp depreciation of the cedi, the rising cost of living, and growing concerns about public safety are still fresh in the minds of voters.

He also cited the destruction of water bodies through illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, as one of the unresolved issues Ghanaians hold the former government responsible for.

Cyril TLC recalled how Dr. Bawumia built much of his political reputation around his economic expertise and once used his famous trotro mate analogy to appeal to Ghanaians to give him the opportunity to become the driver of the country’s affairs.

However, he noted that when that opportunity came under the NPP, voters judged the administration based on their lived experiences and delivered their verdict at the polls.

“Today, Nana B is asking Ghanaians to give Dr. Bawumia another opportunity because he has good plans for the country. But plans alone are not enough,” TLC argued in his statement.

He insisted that the electorate deserves answers about the past, accountability for decisions taken while in government, and a clear explanation of what would be done differently if given another mandate.

As an aspiring Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, Cyril TLC said it is important that the country’s collective memory does not fail.

He stated that any political party seeking another mandate must demonstrate humility, acknowledge legitimate public concerns, accept responsibility where necessary, and show how it intends to address past mistakes.

On the part of the current government, he said the NDC has a responsibility to communicate its policies, explain its achievements with facts, and keep Ghanaians informed about efforts to rebuild the economy.

He added that the government’s Resetting Agenda is focused on improving livelihoods, strengthening public safety, and restoring confidence in governance, which must be communicated effectively.

The NDC communicator also stressed that Ghanaians must remain concerned about the damage caused by galamsey and continue to demand accountability from all public officials responsible for protecting natural resources.

Delivering a direct message to Nana B, TLC said: “Do not approach Ghanaians as though they have forgotten. The people remember the promises, the economic hardships, and the expectations that were not met.”

He said the NPP must address those concerns rather than simply asking the electorate to move on and give Dr. Bawumia another chance.

According to him, the NDC’s Resetting Agenda remains focused on rebuilding the economy, restoring confidence, improving livelihoods, and creating better opportunities for Ghanaians.

He maintained that the party’s commitment to delivering on its promises must remain firm, focused, and measurable to the ordinary Ghanaian.

Cyril TLC concluded by demanding that the NPP must also address concerns surrounding former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and cooperate with relevant authorities to facilitate his return to Ghana to answer outstanding legal questions.

He said Ghanaians deserve leadership that listens, accepts responsibility, respects the people, and delivers on its promises, stressing that the past must inform the present and accountability must remain central to Ghana’s democracy.
