This is the moment three knife-wielding youths were seen fighting on a station platform as passengers watched on in horror.

Video footage shows the three balaclava-clad men slashing at each other with huge knives on the platform of Worthing Station.

Police were called to reports of an altercation at 6.30pm on Sunday, but the youths had already fled and remain at large.

The station was cordoned off and remained closed overnight, but has since reopened today.

Officers scoured the Sussex area in search of the culprits, but said no one was found.

The shocking footage shows two male youths dressed in black lunging towards another man in a grey tracksuit.

The two youths slash towards the lone male, who circles them to escape before swiping back at the pair.

Moments later the lone male sizes up one of the youths before both men strike towards one another.

After a coming together between two of the youths, the lone male limps to an escape as the train appears to depart from Worthing Station.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: ‘We were called at around 6.30pm yesterday (11 October) to reports of an altercation involving three males on a platform at Worthing railway station.

‘They were all reported to be in possession of knives and had fled the station prior to police arrival.

‘Officers conducted a thorough search of the area with Sussex Police colleagues, however, no one was found.

‘Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help officers and has yet to speak to police should text BTP on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, using the reference 543 of 11 October.

‘Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.’
