US Journalist Under Fire From Kenyans After Mentioning Nairobi While Reporting New York’s Condition

US journalist Rob Finnerty has faced criticism from a section of Kenyans after mentioning Nairobi while reporting on immigrant delivery workers in New York City.

Finnerty shared a video in which he questioned the growing number of immigrants working as delivery riders in the American city. His remarks, which linked the presence of immigrants to conditions in developing countries, attracted attention after he used Nairobi to illustrate his point.

In his earlier caption, the journalist claimed that immigrants riding motorcycles and bicycles were making a city governed by Democrats look like a Third World country.

In the video, Finnerty said the situation was happening outside his studio in Manhattan and argued that similar conditions could be seen in the United Kingdom and France.

He blamed former US President Joe Biden’s administration for allowing millions of immigrants from Africa, the Middle East and South America into the United States.

According to Finnerty, many of the newcomers had settled in cities governed by Democrats, which he described as sanctuary cities.

He argued that these cities were beginning to resemble Nairobi rather than New York.

The journalist then showed footage of delivery workers riding bicycles and asked several of them where they came from.

The workers identified countries including Guatemala, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mexico and Guinea. One also identified himself as being from West Africa.

Finnerty noted that the people interviewed were immigrants from developing countries and argued that their presence reflected the direction in which New York City was heading.

He also criticised the city’s new mayor, referring to his background in Uganda, and questioned why New York should become more like the East African country.

However, mentioning Nairobi in his comparison did not go down well with a section of Kenyans who reacted to the journalist’s remarks.
