Omar Sterling Lays Father to Rest in Tema as Celebrities Pay Last Respects

Omar Sterling of the music duo R2Bees has laid his father to rest in Tema. The late patriarch, affectionately known as Papa Watch, was buried in a ceremony attended by family, friends, and a number of notable Ghanaian celebrities who came to pay their last respects.

Among those present at the funeral rites at Tema Community 1 on October 11, 2026, were King Promise, Mr Drew, Darkovibes, music producer DJ Breezy, lawyer Sandra Ankobiah, and Hajia 4Real. Their presence reflected the deep respect and affection the music community holds for Omar Sterling and his family.

Following the burial, social media users paid tribute to the late patriarch, with many crediting him for raising one of Ghana’s celebrated music talents. The tributes highlighted the role parents play in nurturing the careers of Ghanaian artistes, often providing the foundation and support that allows talent to flourish.

The funeral came shortly after Omar Sterling marked the 10th anniversary of his 2016 mixtape, Victory Through Harmony, by making it available on major streaming platforms. Its follow-up project, Victory Through Harmony 2, features a track titled “Papa Watch,” a tribute to his late father.

The coincidence of the anniversary and the funeral gave the moment added poignancy. Messages of condolence and support poured in for Omar Sterling and his family, with many expressing the hope that Papa Watch’s soul rests in peace.
