P.K. Sarpong Turns Up Heat On Mahama Over 2024 Car Loan Promise To Teachers, Nurses

P.K. Sarpong, a writer for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has questioned President John Dramani Mahama over when the proposed vehicle scheme promised to teachers and nurses during the 2024 election campaign will be implemented.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on October 12, 2026, Sarpong called on the President to provide clarity on the status of the initiative, insisting that teachers and nurses deserve more than campaign promises.

His comments come in the wake of teachers resuming duty today after calling off their two-week nationwide strike. The strike had drawn attention to concerns over outstanding promotion allowances and conditions of service, while Sarpong’s post has brought renewed focus to campaign commitments made to workers in the education and health sectors.

He argued that teachers and nurses deserve clear timelines, transparent implementation plans and tangible results rather than promises made during an election campaign. According to him, the government needs to explain when beneficiaries can expect the proposed intervention to become a reality.

Sarpong also questioned how long teachers and nurses would have to wait for the promised initiative, pointing out that the 2024 election campaign was over and demanding clarity on when the delivery would begin.

His remarks have renewed attention on the government’s plans for the proposed vehicle scheme and the expectations of teachers and nurses who were promised support to own vehicles during the campaign.
