The implementation is expected to begin next year.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed this while addressing 2026 Batch C Stream One corps members at the Cross River State orientation camp in Obubra.

Nafiu said the Budget Office had been informed of the upward adjustment, adding that the new allocation was expected to take effect in 2027.

He urged corps members to manage their finances responsibly, avoid extravagant spending and cultivate disciplined saving habits.

The NYSC chief also advised them to prioritise their safety while travelling, urging them to avoid journeys after 6 p.m. and continue the following day where necessary.

He cautioned against resting in public places or sleeping in groups at filling stations, noting that such practices could make corps members easily identifiable.

“Proceed to military installations, police stations or DSS offices, and contact the NYSC hotline,” he advised.

Nafiu also pledged to intensify engagement with relevant stakeholders to improve infrastructure at the Obubra orientation camp.

He encouraged corps members to acquire practical skills that could enhance the value of their certificates and improve their future prospects, citing cosmetology and traditional hairstyling among possible areas of training.

Earlier, the NYSC Cross River State Coordinator, Mrs Adejoke Oyenuga, described the Director-General’s visit as evidence of his commitment to corps members’ welfare.

Oyenuga said 1,064 corps members had registered at the camp and successfully adapted to its structured environment.
