Real Madrid identify €60m-rated Brighton defender as potential 2027 transfer target

Real Madrid are monitoring Brighton and Hove Albion defender Luka Vuskovic as they consider strengthening their defence ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window.

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday, 12 October 2026, the Croatian centre-back has emerged as a potential target for the Spanish giants as they assess options for a defensive overhaul.

The report, citing Bernabeu Digital, states that Real Madrid are considering several candidates as they prepare for possible departures in their central defensive department.

Raul Asencio could leave the club next summer, while Antonio Rudiger is expected to depart when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Those potential exits have increased the need for Madrid to identify suitable replacements and strengthen their long-term defensive options.

Vuskovic, 19, is reportedly valued at €60 million, according to Transfermarkt. However, Brighton are understood to be reluctant to sell the young defender, who has attracted interest from several prominent European clubs.

Liverpool and Manchester United are also monitoring the Croatian, while Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in a player they sold last summer.

The competition for his signature could complicate Real Madrid’s pursuit, particularly if Brighton maintain their stance on keeping the defender.

Madrid are understood to be evaluating multiple options rather than focusing on a single target. Their recruitment plans reportedly include the possibility of signing two centre-backs across the upcoming transfer windows.

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is another player linked with the Spanish club. The Italian was reportedly considered last summer, and his profile continues to appeal to Madrid as they assess potential defensive reinforcements.

The possible departures of Asencio and Rudiger would leave the club needing additional depth and experience at centre-back. Recruiting replacements early could also help Madrid maintain stability as they plan for the future.

Although Vuskovic has attracted significant attention, no agreement has been reported between Real Madrid and Brighton.
