Wike Is Begging Fubara; If I Were Fubara, The Assembly Would Have To Pass My Commissioners-Pidomson
Gabriel Pidomson, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to focus on getting his commissioners approved by the state House of Assembly amid his political relationship with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Pidomson gave the advice during an interview on SYMFONI TV while reacting to Wike’s visit to Fubara’s residence. He argued that the minister’s repeated efforts to reach the governor suggested that Wike was concerned about his chances of securing victory in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ADC candidate urged Rivers residents not to be intimidated by the situation. He questioned why Wike would continue trying to reach Fubara if he was confident that his political structure could win elections without the governor’s support.
Pidomson also pointed to what he described as an imbalance in the political arrangement, arguing that Wike’s camp had secured tickets for several elective positions, including the governorship, Senate, House of Assembly and House of Representatives.
He said Fubara should consider what the arrangement offers him and the people supporting him. Pidomson added that, if he were governor, he would make securing legislative approval for his commissioners a priority to enable government departments and agencies to function effectively.
In his words, “He will not be going on his knees begging Fubara, because he knows that what he has as structure cannot win an election in Rivers State. That’s why he’s going around in Rivers State every day, trying to reach out to Siminalayi Fubara.
“If I were Fubara, the first thing is that the Assembly will have to pass my commissioners.”
