Barcelona, Real Madrid Send Scouts to Watch Haaland Amid Arsenal Interest

Barcelona and Real Madrid have reportedly sent scouts to monitor Erling Haaland during Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool, with Arsenal also considering a potential move for the striker.

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Monday, 12 October 2026, both Spanish clubs dispatched representatives to watch the Norway international during Sunday’s Premier League encounter at Anfield as they assess the possibility of signing him in 2027.

Haaland has attracted considerable transfer speculation following Manchester City’s reported guilt over 114 financial breaches.

The allegations have fuelled suggestions that several key players could leave the Etihad Stadium if the club face relegation from the Premier League.

FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal would explore a deal for the 26-year-old if he becomes available next year. Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with the striker and have reportedly monitored his situation for several seasons.

Haaland scored his eighth goal of the season in the 65th minute against Liverpool, helping City secure an emphatic victory. The performance provided another opportunity for interested clubs to assess his form.

Barcelona’s scouting mission reportedly included monitoring Ronald Araujo, who joined Liverpool on loan from the Catalan club during the summer. Real Madrid were also said to be tracking Liverpool midfielders Florian Wirtz and Alexis Mac Allister.

Despite the growing interest, Haaland has played down suggestions that he is preparing to leave Manchester City.

Speaking to Sky Sports before the Liverpool match, the striker urged supporters to remain united amid uncertainty surrounding the club.

“They’re going to have a good time,” Haaland said when asked what message he had for City fans.

He added: “We have to stick together. We have to stay with each other, and we have to stay positive.”

The Norwegian also emphasised his personal connection with Manchester City and the United Kingdom, indicating that his immediate focus remains on the club.

“Yeah, I care a lot about this place and the UK generally,” he said.
