How Raila’s Bodyguard Maurice Ogeta Was Left ​Angered by Makau Mutua’s Live Stream

Former long-serving bodyguard to Raila Odinga, Maurice Ogeta, has revealed a tense moment during the 2023 Azimio protests that nearly put the opposition leader’s life at serious risk.

Ogeta explained that while his security team was carefully planning safe routes through dangerous points, Professor Makau Mutua was inside Raila’s car live-streaming everything on social media.

“I was shocked when people from the US and South Africa started calling me, saying our exact location and conversations were live online,” Ogeta recalled.

The security team was left confused and exposed. Ogeta believes that live broadcast leaked sensitive movements to enemies, compromising their safety during a very volatile period.

Shortly after those intense protests, Ogeta was abducted by unknown state operatives, a frightening ordeal he still links to insider security blunders. Today, he admits he is not sure if he can ever forgive Mutua for putting the entire team in such extreme danger.
