Lamine Yamal Closes In On Kylian Mbappe Champions League Record

Share on Twitter Lamine Yamal is closing in on another major Champions League milestone as the Barcelona teenager continues to establish himself among Europe’s elite talents.

According to Mundo Deportivo, as reported by Barca universal, the 19-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 34 appearances in the competition.

Yamal moved within touching distance of Kylian Mbappe’s record after scoring against Feyenoord on the opening matchday of this season’s Champions League league phase.

The Real Madrid forward scored 13 Champions League goals before turning 20, leaving Yamal just one strike away from matching that achievement.

The Barcelona star has already surpassed Mbappe’s teenage record for goals scored before turning 19, having netted 11 times compared with the Frenchman’s 10.

Yamal could equal Mbappe’s tally when Barcelona face Galatasaray this week, although he will need two more goals to surpass the record.

The Spain international has enjoyed a remarkable rise since making his Champions League debut at just 16 against Royal Antwerp.

He subsequently became the competition’s youngest starter, achieving the feat against Porto.

In March 2025, Yamal made further history by becoming the youngest player to score and provide an assist in a Champions League match, doing so against Benfica in the round of 16.

He added another landmark the following month when he became the youngest player to score in a Champions League semi-final, finding the net against Inter Milan.

These achievements have strengthened Yamal’s growing reputation as one of football’s most exciting young players.

With Barcelona relying heavily on his creativity and attacking threat under Hansi Flick, another European milestone could be within reach.

Matching Mbappe’s record would represent another significant achievement for Yamal, while breaking it would further underline his extraordinary development at Barcelona.
