Today’s Headlines: APC Polls Show Tinubu Will Win 2027 — Yilwatda; Obasanjo to Grace FT Africa Summit
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, says the party’s internal polls indicate that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election.
Yilwatda disclosed this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he said the party had conducted surveys across states and obtained statistics showing Tinubu ahead of his potential challengers.
“We have done fact-finding; we are leading. We have done our polls. We have our own polls that give us the real statistics across the states,” he said.
Asked whether the polls indicated that Tinubu would win the election, Yilwatda responded, “Of course!”
The APC chairman said the ruling party was not intimidated by opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), associated with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), associated with Peter Obi.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has downplayed suggestions that Erling Haaland could become an immediate target if Manchester City face relegation.
Speaking to BILD on Sunday, Hainer was asked whether Bayern Munich would sign the Norwegian striker if City were forced out of the Premier League because of their ongoing financial charges case.
“We have Kane, Olise, Diaz and more. We scored over 120 goals last season. So, I think we are very well equipped in attack,” Hainer said.
The Bayern chief insisted the club currently does not need to strengthen its forward line, which already features Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz.

One in five girls worldwide is still married before the age of 18, according to UNICEF, even as the agency reports that 68 million child marriages have been averted over the past 25 years.
In a post obtained from UNICEF’s website on Monday, the agency attributed the progress to investments in girls’ education, legal reform and social protection. The figures were released in a message marking the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, 2026, under the theme “End child marriage and invest in girls’ rights!”
“We have the solutions: keeping girls in school; expanding access to health, protection and social services; working with families and communities to challenge harmful norms; investing in girls’ rights and supporting their leadership,” UNICEF said.
