“Bobi Wine Won’t Hold Your Hand” – Dax Vibez Reveals Big Lesson He Learned From NUP Honcho

The singer says the NUP honcho remains a mentor even from thousands of miles away, while claiming Bobi Wine’s political battles could have consequences for Uganda’s entertainment industry.

Dax Vibez is opening up about the lessons he learned from Bobi Wine, and according to the musician, one of the biggest gifts the opposition leader gave him and his brothers was the freedom to think for themselves!

Dax, who regards Bobi Wine as an elder brother and mentor, says the singer-turned-politician taught them how to make independent decisions instead of depending on him to figure out every move.

And apparently, those lessons have stuck even after Bobi Wine left Uganda for the United States.

“He lets you think for yourself, but if you want advice, he’s there,” Dax Vibez said.

According to Dax, Bobi Wine’s approach has been about empowering the people around him to develop their own judgment while remaining available whenever they need advice.

Rather than making every decision for them, Dax says his mentor encouraged independence, a lesson that continues to shape how he and his brothers navigate life and their careers.

For the musician, the relationship goes beyond music. It is about learning to stand on your own two feet while knowing there is someone you can turn to when the going gets tough.

The singer also weighed in on the growing debate over whether musicians should keep politics out of their music careers.

Some artistes have argued for separating entertainment from politics, but Dax offered a different perspective, suggesting that Uganda should recognise the significance of having produced a musician who went on to become a major political figure.

Bobi Wine built his public profile through music before becoming a prominent opposition politician. His political journey has kept the relationship between Uganda’s entertainment industry and national politics firmly in the spotlight.

Dax believes that transition has come at a cost for the wider music industry, alleging that some people may target the sector because of Bobi Wine’s outspoken political positions.

“But that comes at a cost. They will try to attack the industry to portray him (Bobi Wine) as the bad one for speaking the truth,” Dax added.
