Delhi Metro Closes Entry, Exit at Six Stations Till 4 PM Ahead of INDIA Bloc March

The Delhi Traffic Police also issued an extensive traffic advisory, warning commuters of possible congestion and diversions at around 30 locations across the national capital.

In a post on X, the DMRC said entry and exit at the affected stations would remain closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 12. The restrictions would be reviewed by security agencies, with further updates to be issued as required. Interchange facilities would, however, remain available at all six stations.

The restrictions came two days after authorities temporarily shut 45 metro stations in connection with a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The traffic police cautioned that heightened security arrangements, metro restrictions and overnight rainfall could compound travel difficulties across Delhi-NCR, particularly during the morning office rush.

Commuters were advised to avoid non-essential journeys through affected areas, follow diversion signs and comply with directions issued by traffic personnel.

Among the locations identified as likely to experience traffic disruptions were Dhaula Kuan Flyover, Jhandewalan and Mandi House roundabouts, Connaught Place, Minto Road, Lodhi Road Flyover, Rail Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Jantar Mantar Road and the areas around Bhikaji Cama Place and Moti Bagh flyovers.

The proposed march comes amid opposition protests over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demands for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Leaders of several INDIA bloc parties are expected to participate.

Ahead of the demonstration, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi shared a video on X alleging that young people who took part in a peaceful protest in Delhi on Sunday had been assaulted by police personnel and BJP workers.

ā€œYesterday, the nation’s young came out in Delhi to peacefully protest. They came with love in their hearts, not hatred or anger. They were beaten, both by cops and BJP goons. This is not the India we want,ā€ Gandhi said.
