ECG Announces 3-Day Power Outage in Accra: Check the Full List of Affected Communities and Dates

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled maintenance works that will affect electricity supply in several communities within the Accra West Region from Wednesday, October 14, to Friday, October 16, 2026.

In a notice issued on Sunday, October 11, the company explained that the exercise forms part of efforts to improve electricity service delivery. Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been advised to prepare for temporary power interruptions during the maintenance period.

According to ECG, the scheduled works will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on each of the three days.

On Wednesday, October 14, the outage will affect Tabora Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, Bankyease, Race Course, Alhaji, Kwashiebu, Gbawe Bulemin, Gonse, Joma, Agbozome and CP, as well as surrounding communities.

The maintenance programme will continue on Thursday, October 15, affecting Mallam Junction, the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital area, South McCarthy, Sampa Valley, Kokrobite, Oshiyie, Old Bortianor, Old Aplaku, Abease, Achiama, Obeyeyie and Ayikai Doblo. Other nearby locations may also experience interruptions.

On Friday, October 16, the exercise will extend to Kotoku, Papase, Chinto, Doblo and Medie, including their surrounding communities.

ECG said the planned maintenance is intended to strengthen electricity services and improve supply to customers across the affected locations.

The temporary interruptions could affect households, businesses and other facilities that depend on a steady electricity supply. Residents and business operators are therefore encouraged to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled work.

The company has apologised for any inconvenience the exercise may cause and urged customers to take note of the announced dates and operating hours.

Customers in the affected communities are advised to plan their activities accordingly while ECG carries out the maintenance operations.
